1 to 40 person aerated wastewater treatment plant range

 The Crystal ECO domestic sewage treatment plant is designed to provide aerated wastewater treatment for both domestic and commercial properties that have no access to mains drainage.  However, as it does not yet have the EN12566-3 certification, it canot be used as a package plant but only as an add-on treatment plant to a septic tank.

The Crystal ECO domestic unit is designed in accordance with BS 6297: 1983 in order to clean the final effluent via extended aeration wastewater treatment to a standard of 20mg/l Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and 30mg/l Suspended Solids on a 95 percentile basis.

The wastewater treatment range caters for between 1 and 20 persons, with larger populations catered for by linking the units in series. 

The Crystal ECO domestic sewage treatment plant offers a very discreet solution to on-site wastewater treatment as the small lid is flush with the ground and unlike its rivals; the compressor is housed in a dry safety chamber under the lid, with no visually intrusive kiosk. This ensures that no child or animal can fall in the unit should the lid be removed! 

The Crystal ECO itself is craftsman built, very robust, superb quality, using thicker fibreglass than its rivals and an all-fibreglass internal construction with NO metal struts to corrode. For this reason it carries a 25yr guarantee on all parts of the tank.  Compare this with the competition.  Unlike the biodisc type systems, the Crystal ECO has NO internal moving parts.

Unlike 3 stage wastewater treatment units which settle the solids out in the primary settlement tank for regular emptying via tanker, the Crystal ECO digests the solids as well as the organic material in the liquid part of the effluent, achieving 95%+ Total Solids Digestion.  This means that the emptying interval is extended up to 5 years, even for the 15 to 20 person sewage units which typically have to be emptied every 3 months when using 3 stage sewage treatment systems.

  How the Crystal ECO works

1. Air from the compressor housed under the lid is piped to a diffuser in the draft tube.

2. Raw sewage enters the aeration chamber and air surging up from the draft tube aerates the sewage, causing an aerobic bacterial colony to establish in the aeration chamber and digest the organic matter in the sewage. 

3. As more raw sewage enters the aeration chamber, an equal amount of effluent displaces through the open bottom into the clarifier.

4. The quiet conditions in the clarifier allow all the suspended solids to sink to the base of the clarifier and they are drawn back up the draft tube by the upward flow of air for further digestion in the aeration chamber. The Crystal constantly recycles the sewage via gravity and this is how it achieves nearly total solids digestion.

5. The clear effluent rises to the top of the clarifier and passes over a weir into the outlet pipe, from where it id discharged to a soakaway or watercourse.

     The Crystal ECO domestic sewage treatment plant is designed in accordance with BS6297:1983.  It is designed to produce an effluent of 20:30mg/litre BOD/SS on a 95percentile basis

 Installation of the Crystal Eco

The Crystal ECO is simple, quick and cheap to install as it has the option of NO concrete for the installation if desired.  It requires only soil/sand/gravel as backfill as it is a robust, quality tank.  Most other sewage treatment plants require a concrete base and a min. 300mm concrete backfill, which makes the installation much more expensive  The aeration treatment unit itself is installed in two halves and the top is eye-bolted to the bottom before the tank is leveled, backfilled with the soil/ gravel and filled with water.  The compressor sits in a chamber under the lid, which is designed to keep it safe and dry.

If you have a high water table, there are two installation options.

1.     The Crystal ECO domestic sewage treatment plant can be held down via 4 simple metal ground anchors which take 10 mins. to install.  Backfill with soil/sand/gravel.

2.    A small amount of concrete can be used to cover the anti-flotation Lugs, then backfill with soil/sand/gravel.  Full installation manual available
