Tank Delivery and Off-loading

Tank Delivery and Off-Loading

All Deliveries

All deliveries must be inspected for damage or missing items prior to the Proof of Delivery (POD) document being signed.  If goods are damaged or items missing this must be noted on the POD.

The POD is a legal document that all haulage companies use as part of their insurance.  If a POD is signed clean (no damage or missing items noted) then you are declaring that there is nothing wrong with the items delivered.  If a POD is signed clean and damage or missing items are noticed later the haulier’s insurer will not pay compensation.

We will happily exchange or refund goods if they are damaged or supply items that are missing but we cannot do this free of charge if a POD has been signed for clean.

Please note that signing for goods as “unchecked” has the same effect as signing for them clean.  Damage and/or deficiencies must be clearly noted on the POD.

Tanks Sold Ex Works

When tanks are sold ex works the customer must inform us of the date and time of collection.

Forklifts are available to assist with tank loading.

If the tanks are to be loaded into a container then a crane may be required.  If the container is on the back of a vehicle then a crane is always required to load the tank.  If the container can be placed on the floor then a crane is usually not required as loading can be done with our forklifts.  If a crane is required then there will be a charge for this.

Vortex Sewage Treatment Plants

Standard delivery for most tanks is done using curtain sided vehicles.

The 4 and 6 person tanks can be ordered using a lorry with a Tail Lift.

The customer must provide a means of unloading the tank as the vehicle will not be equipped with a forklift or Hiab crane.

The tank has lifting eyes and will be on a pallet so it can be unloaded with forks or strapped through the lifting eyes and moved using a digger bucket/back actor.   If unloading is done using the lifting eyes then the customer must provide suitably rated straps for the unloading.

For larger Vortex tanks standard delivery is made using a flatbed vehicle.  Again a means of unloading must be provided by the customer.  When delivered on a flatbed the tank will not be on a pallet.

The table below indicates whether standard delivery is made using a curtain sided or a flatbed lorry.

Hiab delivery can be arranged for all tanks for an additional charge.

If access to the site is restricted please inform us when placing the order as many deliveries are made using articulated vehicles.  If notified of a restricted access we will instruct the haulier to deliver the tank(s) on a smaller vehicle.

When tanks are delivered using curtain sided vehicles we can request an AM or PM delivery with the haulier.  This is only a request and cannot be guaranteed.   AM/PM requests cannot be made for some areas such as highlands and islands.  If you would like an AM/PM delivery please inform us when you pace the order.
