Product Summary

VORTEX is the UK’s only fully adjustable ASP sewage treatment plant, engineered to perform efficiently whether it’s serving one person or a full household. Its low-energy operation, compact one-piece tank, and automatic sludge management make it an ideal choice for modern off-mains properties where reliability and running costs matter.

Unlike many sewage treatment plants that stop working properly when usage drops below 50%, VORTEX can be tuned to suit your occupancy with a simple hand-turn valve, ensuring consistently clean effluent even in large homes with just one or two residents. Its ultra-efficient aeration cycle also means VORTEX only runs for part of each hour, offering up to 33% energy savings and significantly lower running costs than most electric treatment plants.

With exceptional pollutant reduction (up to 98.9%), Environment Agency approval for discharge to watercourses, and a 20-year tank warranty, it’s a long-lasting, easy-to-maintain solution for domestic and small commercial sites.

Features and Benefits of VORTEX

VORTEX is engineered to solve some of the most common performance issues seen in other sewage treatment systems, making it one of the most reliable and user-friendly options for off-mains properties in the UK. Key features include:

Zero odour

Many sewage treatment plants use an anaerobic (no oxygen) primary tank to remove solids as the first treatment step, but this creates a tank of decaying waste that creates foul odour.   VORTEX is 100% aerobic, and this eliminates the formation of foul gasses.

Consistent performance even during low occupancy

Most sewage treatment plants struggle when underloaded, but VORTEX’s adjustable airflow allows it to operate efficiently in second homes, large houses with few residents, or properties with seasonal use.

Industry-leading sludge management system

The combination of the automatic Floating Sludge Return (FSR) and Settled Sludge Return significantly reduces manual maintenance, prevents crust build-up, and keeps the system running smoothly for longer.

Integrated Vibro-Screen™ protection system

Unlike standard ASP plants, VORTEX prevents wipes, sanitary products, and other non-organic items from reaching the biological chamber, reducing service issues and protecting long-term performance.

Exceptionally quiet and discreet operation

Thanks to its linear motor compressor and fully aerobic treatment process, VORTEX runs with minimal noise, making it ideal for residential settings.

Designed for long-term durability

The one-piece tank moulding eliminates weak points, while the corrosion-free materials support decades of consistent operation with minimal deterioration.

Lower lifetime ownership costs

Reduced desludging, fewer call-outs, and energy-efficient operation make VORTEX significantly cheaper to run and maintain compared to many traditional electric and non-electric systems.

Flexible installation options

Its compact footprint and range of invert depth choices make it easy to install on properties with limited space, awkward plots, or existing infrastructure constraints.

Suitable for sensitive environmental locations

With superior ammonia and pollutant reduction, VORTEX is ideal for properties near streams, ditches, watercourses, or protected habitats that require higher effluent standards.

Perfect for both domestic and small commercial use

Its wide population range (1-50 persons) and ability to cope with fluctuating loads mean it performs reliably on everything from individual homes to small offices, holiday lets, and multi-use sites.

Delivery

All sewage treatment plants must be inspected on arrival before you sign the Proof of Delivery (POD). If any damage or missing items are found, they must be noted on the POD.

A signed clean or unchecked POD means the haulage insurer will not cover any claims discovered later, so please always check before signing.

 Delivery Vehicles

  • 4-12 person VORTEX tanks will be delivered on a curtain-sided lorry. Tail-lift delivery is available on request.
  • Larger VORTEX tanks (15–50 person) will be delivered on a flatbed vehicle.

If your site has restricted access, let us know when ordering and we can arrange delivery on a smaller vehicle where possible.

 Unloading Requirements

Customers must provide suitable means of off-loading. Delivery vehicles do not come with a Hiab or forklift.

Depending on model:

  • Tanks may be delivered on a pallet (curtain-sider deliveries) and can be unloaded using forks.
  • Tanks can also be unloaded using rated lifting straps through the tank’s lifting eyes and a digger bucket/back actor.
  • Hiab delivery can be arranged for an additional charge.

 Timed Deliveries

AM/PM delivery requests can be passed to the haulier (not guaranteed). Some regions, such as the Highlands and Islands, may not offer AM/PM options.
